Free Pattern: Cup Cozy
We've talked about this before: most of the cup cozies I've seen are either waaaay too manly or waaaaay too over the top. I don't want big wooden buttons and tweed, but I don't want hot pink marabou trim either. (Although, the marabou would be fun sometimes...)
Anyway, I whipped up this quick, cute ruffle edged cup cozy, and now I'm sharing the pattern with you. It's VERY easy...enjoy! Click here to download the pattern.
As always, comments, questions and pics of the finished product are welcome...simply leave them on this blog or message me over at my etsy shop!
Peace, love and soul, y'all.

Spare pair of flats?
I'll be haunting the local thrift/charity shops for a spare pair of flats that would look cool with mini-neckties on them.
Seriously though. Nothing says "crafter chic" more than making neckties for your feet.
Spotted over at Momtastic, give them a visit!

New Item: Winter Tam
The derfy look on my face is what happens when I've taken fifteen great pictures and decide to go for one...more...shot...just in case.
S'what I get for being vain.
I don't usually work in stripes. No real reason, I just don't often think of hat designs or any designs featuring stripes. I'm more of a color block girl, I think. But these colors coordinated so beautifully and unexpectedly, I thought I'd do a warm winter version of the rasta tam.
The yarn is a beautiful wool/alpaca/silk blend that is fuzzy and gorgeous and soft.
The hatband is elasticized and the hatband folds up and around in all sorts of fun bendy ways.
That facial expression...look, you've seen other pics of me. All I can do is say my eyes are usually the same size, and I do, in fact, have a chin. Focus on the hat, people. The hat. It will make you look gorgeous, even if you're making a derfy face.

Yarn stash as room decor...
Isn't it lovely? Everything from denim yarn, cotton chenille, sock yarn, fuzzy acrylic and some fancy mercerized cotton thread that I've been meaning to make something out of...hmmm....
This happens to be all that I could salvage in my bit intercontinental move plus a few(okay, 7) skeins I picked up at a recent craft expo here in Manchester.
Hopefully this will inspire me to make more things, more often. *crosses fingers*

So much exciting news in so little space...
Hello SweetShop patrons! I realize it's been a looooong minute blogospherically speaking, but trust me, there are good reasons. Let me just share a few bits of good news;
- The first is this; SweetShop Creations has moved to the UK! Yes, that's right, your friendly neighborhood patternista is doing an MA in Old Blighty, and therefore has moved from the middle of the mountains to the middle of...well, this isn't really the middle of anything. That would be why I haven't done much posting...in between frantic packing and visa applications and sheer unadulterated shock, I haven't had the time.
- Meanwhile, this means that the etsy shop is going to be changing a little bit...fewer items, more special orders, more artisan, one of a kind pieces.
- BUT this also means more patterns...published here. Thanks to all who downloaded the Raspberry Beret pattern...has anyone made one? If you have, please leave me a comment telling me how it turned out.
- And the last, but probably most exciting bit of news....SweetShop Creations products are being carried in Common Era shops in the Denver/Boulder area! If you're in the area, drop in and say hey...they've got a few Sweetshop hats and scarves, tell them Mel sent you!
